Welcome to Year 3, Junior Class 1. Your class teachers are Mrs Harness and Mrs Pitchford. The class Teaching Assistant is Mrs Isbister.
Mrs Harness teaches at the beginning of the week – all day Monday, all day Tuesday, Wednesday morning and part of Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs Pitchford teaches at the end of the week – part of Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and all day Friday.
Children will receive two pieces of homework per week, one Maths based and one English based. Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due back in on the following Wednesday. Children are more than welcome to bring homework back in early, if they are finished.
In addition, children will have a reading book that they will bring home every day. Please encourage your children to read six pages or more per evening and record this in your child’s reading record. Whenever you feel that your child is ready for a new reading book, they can bring it in and put it into the Changing Tray basket at the front of their classroom and this will be changed for them that day.
PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, however children should keep their PE kits in school all week. They will be sent home every half term to be washed.
Children are provided with all of the stationery that they need for lessons. Therefore, children do not need to bring in a pencil case, as we would hate for them to be damaged or lost.
Please could all children bring in a bottle with a sports top lid (to avoid spillages). Please only send water in bottles. Bottles will be sent home every evening for washing, to be re-sent in the following morning.
Children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack for play time, although they are also able to purchase milk and toast from the school hall each day. Any cash sent in with children can be kept in a small purse or wallet but remains the responsibility of each child. Milk or juice is priced at 20p and a round of toast is priced at 15p.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year and getting to know you and all of your children.
